Laryngoscopic Investigiation

About Laryngoscopic Investigiation

Laryngoscopy is an examination of your throat using a camera in a thin tube, and can be used to find the cause of a prolonged sore throat, difficulty breathing or a hoarse voice.

This can be done under general anaesthetic (rigid laryngoscopy), with the benefit of being able to take a tissue sample or give minor treatment at the same time. It can also be done under local anaesthesia using a flexible laryngoscope, but can only diagnosis can be performed.
